The festival, organized by the Lankaran Executive Authority, begins in the morning in Heydar Aliyev Park, decorated with stands with state attributes of Azerbaijan and symbols of Lankaran. Indoor pavilions with tea, chaltyk, citrus fruits and other types of food and industrial goods, samples of folk art will also be built in the park.
Local enterprises, farms, tourist sites will set tea tables with natural tea and sweets in the pavilions. In addition, skilled chefs of the region will prepare more than 50 types of pilaf, the famous dish of Lankaran cuisine lavangi and various kebabs.
The festival will feature musical numbers of amateur art groups, programs with the participation of young people and athletes. The festival will end with a concert of prominent figures of the country's arts and fireworks.
Lankaran zone is special in Azerbaijan. And one of these features is the presence of 9 out of 11 known climate types in the world. It is always warm here, and the coldest month is January, when the air temperature drops by a maximum of three degrees Celsius during the day. The humid subtropical climate allows growing almost all citrus fruits. At the festival, you can try the best of everything - oranges, tangerines, lemons, kimkan, citrons, grapefruits, kiwi, persimmon and feijoa.
In Lankaran, rice, or rather rice fields, are called chaltyk. Rice has been grown here for many years, and during this time, local products have established themselves and become a brand. Chaltyk is actually unrefined rice, with husks. We grow environmentally friendly, aromatic rice. Of course, it costs a little more than imported rice, but the price is worth the quality.
You could judge the taste and aroma of local rice right at the festival, where local chefs prepared delicious dishes from it. The most unusual and aromatic ones were pilaf in pumpkin for vegetarians, and also shakh-pilaf - rice baked in dough with meat and dried fruits. But you could also try just pilaf, and next to it, as a side dish, they offered chicken lavangi.
At the festival, guests are treated to aromatic local tea. Lankaran tea is famous all over the world. The most delicious tea is without additives and impurities. But people have forgotten the taste of real purple tea, which does not need bergamot and other additives for aroma. Lankaran tea is brewed in a special way: rinse the teapot with hot water, add a couple of spoons of dry tea, pour boiling water, after a couple of seconds pour out the first brew and fill the teapot with hot water again. Put the kettle on to brew for about 10 minutes and you can pour it into the armuds."
Also in the south of Azerbaijan there is very picturesque nature, with lakes, waterfalls, canyons. These regions of Azerbaijan surprise our guests with thermal springs, as well as hot burning water, cold burning water and a burning mountain. This region was also famous for its long-livers. Even during the USSR, the record holders for longevity, all came from the southern regions of Azerbaijan. At the request of guests, we can visit the long-livers and visit the only museum of long-livers in the world.
