Azerbaijan is rich in various fruits, one of them is pomegranate. We have more than 60 types of pomegranates, and this is the only country where all varieties of pomegranate grow. In many cultures, it is considered the king of fruits. And why, we will tell you on the excursion.

We will go with you to the pomegranate plantations and together with you we will see how it grows and how it is harvested, and if you wish, you yourself can also take part in its collection and try different varieties of this juicy fruit right on the spot. We will tell you about the benefits of pomegranates, how to choose them correctly. After that, we will go with you to the factory where they produce pomegranate juice and other products of this factory, and not only from pomegranate.

Pomegranate Festival
A little about the holiday, which is held once a year.
The Pomegranate Festival has been celebrated relatively recently — since 2006. During these days, various exhibitions are held where you can see a variety of pomegranate varieties, try juice, jam and other delicacies made from this fruit. In addition, agronomists and gardeners bring their largest pomegranates to the festival. It turns out that this fruit can reach quite impressive sizes. At one of the festivals, a fruit weighing 1.5 kg was presented. It is interesting that the pomegranate has many medicinal properties. For example, juice can be used to stabilize blood pressure, a decoction of the root can be used as a painkiller, and the peel is useful for digestion.
Not only tourists come to Goychay for the Pomegranate Festival, but also many high-ranking guests — government officials, the diplomatic corps, as well as representatives of neighboring regions.
It is worth noting that the city itself is preparing for the holiday. Improvement work is underway, parks, gardens and streets are festively decorated. The main festive venue is the pomegranate fair, which takes place in the city center, where all participants of the event can visit, try wonderful pomegranate juice and learn a lot of useful information about the role of pomegranate in the treatment of various diseases.

In the park named after G. Aliyev, performances of athletes, folklore groups, a song and dance ensemble, as well as various competitions with prizes are held. In the evening, on the main square of the district, the Pomegranate Festival ends with a magnificent concert, with the participation of masters of the arts of the republic, and a fireworks display.
The two-day festival includes a festive procession with the participation of musical and dance groups, an exhibition fair of pomegranate and pomegranate products, as well as various competitions, for example, for the heaviest fruit, the speed of squeezing juice, the fastest eating of a pomegranate, etc. The works of artists and masters of folk applied art, concerts with the participation of a pop star and folklore groups are also presented here. There will also be a backgammon championship, a video and poetry competition, and a culinary competition with cash prizes. Guests can try pomegranate juice, pomegranate wine, pomegranate jam, take part in various entertainment programs, and take a tour of the region's attractions. You will definitely be invited to try something unusual and unique, convincing that in all of Azerbaijan you will not find anything tastier than pomegranate juice or baked pomegranate slices in confectionery or national dishes that can amaze the imagination of the most sophisticated gourmet. The most famous varieties of pomegranate - "Veles", "Shirin", "Gyuleisha", "Shikhbaba", "Bygyr" - are presented here in large quantities. These varieties are distinguished by their thin skin and large grains. Local housewives know how to cook "narsharab" - a traditional gravy for meat and fish dishes based on pomegranate, one of the secrets of Azerbaijani cuisine. "Narsharab" translates as "pomegranate wine", but the sauce does not contain a drop of alcohol.
