Masazir Red Lake

Just 15 km from the capital lies Masazir, one of the most unusual lakes in the world. Its waters take on a pinkish or even deep red hue due to the high concentration of sulfates and chlorides, as well as special algae that produce carotenoids. I was born and raised in Baku and later lived by this lake for 12 years, so I’ll share not only well-known facts but also my personal observations and discoveries.
During the tour, I’ll share the results of my research on the impact of the local air and water on human health, talk about ancient healing methods used here for centuries, and explain why the water changes color up to eight times a year. We’ll also discuss other incredible "multicolored" lakes in Azerbaijan, located in the mountains.

I’ll share the legends about the creatures said to inhabit the summit and the ancient traditions associated with this enigmatic rock.
